Description

Join us for the launch event for our Facilitator's Toolkit at the School of Geography and Planning, where we will share what we have been learning about facilitating community food initiatives to pitch and fundraise for projects.

is affiliated to the Institute for Sustainable Food and the Institute for Global Sustainable Development at the University of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. The aim of Make it Grow is to support marginalised community groups to develop, express and fundraise for their food-related project ideas, through the creation of Participatory Video Proposals.

The Make it Grow process involves workshops to support skills development at community level. Participants gain know-how in basic smartphone video-making and project planning. A video proposal can be used for applying for small grants, setting up crowdfunding campaigns, communicating with donors or promoting a group/project more widely. The approach is useful for supporting inclusion in planning and communication processes.

The purpose of our toolkit is to provide facilitators with a step-by step guide and some helpful resources for supporting community groups through the process of co-creating a participatory video proposal. The approach is applicable to the UK/local as well as international contexts.

We warmly invite practitioners, researchers, interested public and students to come and explore the project. We hope to learn from diverse insights and hear thoughts on how the toolkit could be adapted for organisations and community projects and food initiatives in your local area!

After hearing from the project leader and collaboration partners in Zimbabwe, we will have lunch and an informal roundtable discussion, to share ideas and insights on how participatory digital methods can be leveraged by community projects. There will be time to network with other participants and facilitators of participatory community development processes.
